Road Safety Hacks: Tips and Tricks for Riders of All Heights

Love adventure riding, but worried about riding tall adventure bikes? An average Indian is about 5.5ft tall which makes riding tall adventure bikes a challenge in itself. The biggest challenge every short Rider has with riding tall two-wheelers is losing balance when they come to a stop.

Not to worry, here are some smart hacks that you can implement and make your dream of riding a tall adventure bike come true.

Stop at high, even surfaces

The first trick is to prevent from tipping over is to stop at a place that provides adequate height for you to put your foot down firmly. when you are coming to a stop look 50 metres ahead and plan where you are about to stop. Once you get in the habit of doing that it will come to you as second nature.

Reduce the seat height

In most modern two wheelers, including adventure  motorcycles and scooters, you can reduce the seat height at the dealership itself. also, it is a good idea to research the market for options that are more suited to your height. If you have set your heart on a bike that is going to be taller by your estimates, speak with the dealership and have the seat height reduced to a comfortable position. If that is not possible at the dealership, you can also explore aftermarket solutions that will help you put your foot down on the ground firmly.

Buy a pair of tall motorbike riding shoes

Another smart hack to increase your height that works in all situations is to buy a pair of shoes that increases your height by a few inches. Motorcycle riding boots usually come with thick soles and if you need additional height, look for aftermarket options that provide it. You can do that by adding an extra insole or outfitting the outer sole with extra rubber padding.

Lean slightly at stops

When you come to a stop, shift your weight to one side and extend their leg in order to lean to one side and keep your balance on the motorcycle. Favour your strong side for leaning  and make sure to keep the motorcycle or two wheeler as vertical as possible. It is important to note that most adventure two wheelers are top heavy, so if you lean over too much, you run the risk of tipping it over completely.

Keep your knee straight

A good way to maintain high stability and balance on your two wheeler is to keep your knee straight when you come to a stop. A common mistake many novice riders make is to slightly behind their knees which weakens the support and increases the risk of falling over. Always remember to keep your knee completely straight which locks the lower and upper section of your leg giving you more power to hold the bike stable.

Finally, never forget your riding safety gear

Motorcycle riding gear such as a high quality helmet and gloves are essential when it comes protecting yourself in the event of a fall, irrespective of whether you are at a stand still or in motion. We talk about increasing your height with tall motorcycle riding boots, but in addition to that you should also invest in good quality road motorbike helmets, jackets and gloves.

Don’t let your height stop you from chasing your dreams. Invest in good quality riding safety gear and play smart!
